Tritex was founded in 1978 by Sam Lim, the company's current President, together with Managing Director, Mrs Angilene Ang. Tritex's started in the oil & gas industry, supplying directly to end users of rigs and explorations sites. In 1995 the company expanded its targeted markets and redirected its efforts toward servicing the leisure yacht indsutry as a wholesale distributor. Tritex employed about a dozen people during its formative years and handled all customer orders from a small office/warehouse building in Hillview, not far from the company's current headquarters in Tuas, Singapore.

Solid performance in Singapore supported the corporation's foray into foreign markets. Tritex expanded into Hong Kong in late 1995 and in early 1996 the company went into Taiwan and subsequently in China the folllowing year. Tritex's geographic expansion has been matched by an equally successful movement into new market segments. In 1995, for example, Tritex only distributed Onan generator. Today, Tritex represent and distribute more than 15 renowned product lines acorss Asia. Tritex has developed many specialized programs and business units to help ensure its continued success in both new and traditional business.
